Job Description

As a Controls Specialist, you will work individually and collaboratively to support capital projects and implement solutions that drive significant improvements for our clients. You will coordinate operations, integrate schedules, manage commissioning activities, conduct assessments, and provide training, all while interfacing with design teams and client representatives.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate owner's operations technicians' work schedules and manpower forecasts.
  • Manage and track commissioning constraints and deficiencies affecting the schedule or quality of Basebuild utility systems post-construction installation.
  • Integrate construction and design schedules with commissioning activities.
  • Provide reports and updates on schedule and quality metrics.
  • Conduct system and facility engineering job walk assessments.
  • Troubleshoot and complete root cause failure analysis on assigned projects.
  • Train suppliers in commissioning software systems.
  • Provide and manage access for suppliers to commissioning software systems.
  • Interface smoothly with engineering design team members and client representatives.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years’ experience in commissioning or construction for I&C or Electrical Basebuild systems in the Advanced Technology sector.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation, PLC5, and Control Logix hardware and software.
  • Experience with multi-discipline large capital projects involving owners, general contractors, contractors, and system integrators.
  • Good understanding of Design/Build (Engineering and Construction).
  • Knowledge of complex process systems architecture and design, instrumentation, device selection, networking, PLC & I/O architectures, P&IDs, data sheets, and SCADA.
  • Working knowledge of environments common in large industrial applications such as Dry/Wet Mechanical, AWN, Gas/Chem Distribution, HVAC, and Clean Room environmental control.
  • Proficiency in control systems programming and configuration.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience conducting I/O checkouts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering or similar technical field (preferred).
  • Associate's degree or technical certification in electrical, mechanical, or control systems engineering or related field; direct experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with control systems in a data center or similar environment.
  • Familiarity with various control system platforms such as Building Management Systems (BMS) or SCADA.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and proactive approach to work.

Work Environment

The role involves traveling to project sites in South Bend, Indiana, with a per diem included. You will work 50 hours per week, engaging with advanced technologies in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
