Summary: As a Mechanical Sustaining Engineer, you will be working closely with R&D, Quality, Procurement and Manufacturing teams to sustain and enhance existing products. Make, evaluate and implement design, material and process changes and make functional changes where required by the market.

Energetic, hands on, highly organized and responsible engineer. Manufacturing and assembly focused engineer with the ability to work with a minimum of supervision. Strong communication skills and experienced team member. Eager to grow, either technically or in team leadership.

Location: Fully onsite in Kent, WA.

Salary is $110,000 to $140,000 depending on experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Propose engineering solutions to existing problems in design, process, quality, sourcing etc.
  • Perform engineering analysis and modeling (structural, FEA, kinematic, dynamic, and thermal) on parts and assemblies to ensure new or revised designs meet or exceed performance specifications.
  • Define requirements, Coordinate and perform testing on new or modified parts; authorise changes and document testing.
  • Operates independently to execute the design of features that satisfy the requirements and scope.
  • Manage and author ECOs, ECR approvals, ECO implementation, co-ordinate weekly cross functional meetings.
  • Identify products or processes that require improvement projects.
  • Assess and approve alternate parts, materials and processes where required to meet company goals.
  • Work closely with product design teams through design reviews, testing and general collaboration.
  • Effectively manage your time to accomplish goals despite competing interests.
  • Learn and understand a wide range of products and production processes and how to optimize those to meet cost and quality expectations of customers.
  • Always uphold an extremely high product quality standard.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in Mechanical engineering.
  • SolidWorks and PDM experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Software, Primary: MS Office, SolidWorks, PDM, FEA tools. Secondary: PLM (any), ERP (NetSuite).
  • Experience with electromechanical drive train design. AC and DC motors up to 5hp, worm drive reducers.
  • Understanding of hydraulic systems, schematics, design, and deployment preferred.
  • Knowledge of common manufacturing techniques and DFM: Metal forming, welding types, plastics molding and forming, printing, painting, corrosion protection, machining, extrusions, assembly automation, etc.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated and eager to succeed.
