Buffering Operator-KBUFOP - Night Shift

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Buffering Operator is responsible for operating the buffering application machinery to apply protective coatings (buffers) to wires and cables, ensuring proper coverage and adherence specifications.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Sets up machine per order requirements, consistently monitors machine processes to ensure proper settings and quality, completes job specifications and associated paperwork, records and enters data.
  • Conducts quality checks at various stages throughout buffering process
  • Performs basic troubleshooting and maintenance of buffering machines and maintains housekeeping in work area
  • Uses and reads micrometers to measure and cut wire, places completed order in designated location, and communicates with supervisors & associates.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

Minimum Experience Required

  • Entry level

License(s) and/or Certification(s) Required

  • n/a

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions
  • Ability to follow plant work rules, work instructions, safety rules and established processes, procedures & practices
  • Ability to use tools including wire cutters, pliers, wrenches, hammer, micrometers, and computer
