POSITION OVERVIEW
The Buffering Operator is responsible for operating the buffering application machinery to apply protective coatings (buffers) to wires and cables, ensuring proper coverage and adherence specifications.
Primary Responsibilities
- Sets up machine per order requirements, consistently monitors machine processes to ensure proper settings and quality, completes job specifications and associated paperwork, records and enters data.
- Conducts quality checks at various stages throughout buffering process
- Performs basic troubleshooting and maintenance of buffering machines and maintains housekeeping in work area
- Uses and reads micrometers to measure and cut wire, places completed order in designated location, and communicates with supervisors & associates.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum Experience Required
License(s) and/or Certification(s) Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions
- Ability to follow plant work rules, work instructions, safety rules and established processes, procedures & practices
- Ability to use tools including wire cutters, pliers, wrenches, hammer, micrometers, and computer
