We are looking for the Helos New Initiatives Systems Engineer to join our exciting and dynamic Helicopters Transmission Systems Engineering team within the Third Parties NPI Engineering Section.

In this role you will lead and coordinate the whole engineering effort to support the cross functional team during the Request For Information (RFI) and Request For Proposal (RFP) phases up to Contract Award partnering with the Sales team for Avio Aero business development. In addition you will support collection and definition of new technologies needs to support upcoming businesses. The position requires accountability for functional and business objectives.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

The Helos New Initiatives Systems Engineer will be responsible to develop and execute objectives for self and others and have the ability to affect short-term and some long-term business goals.

  • Lead and coordinate the engineering effort to support the cross functional team during the Request For Information (RFI) and Request For Proposal (RFP) phases partnering within the Sales team for Avio Aero business development.
  • Lead and coordinate the engineering activities to achieve the Gate review according to the NPI process; coordinate the presentation material and ensure that all documents are formally archived.
  • Collect from all Engineering Design Organizations the Non Recurring Cost (NRC) figures including but not limited to Experimental Testing, Technological Maturation efforts, consultancies and risk mitigation actions.
  • Contribute in performing the Program Risk Assessment providing the technical risk figures and supporting the team in properly allocating program contingency.
  • Contribute and Partner with Commercial and Legal team in contract definition and negotiation up to Program Award.
  • Ensure lessons learned from previous/ongoing NPI Programs experiences are caught during the RFI/RFP process.
  • Support the collection of contributions in the definition of the Avio Aero technological roadmap for External Customers, in close collaboration with the rest of the System team, contributing to the Helo Ecosystem framework.
  • Support the engineering effort during the procurement, manufacturing and assembly phases of Development Prototypes Build and relevant Test Activities of technological maturation programs;
  • Provide leadership for unyielding compliance and integrity;
  • Focus on protection of Intellectual Property (IP)

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering Master Degree
  • Previous experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) or pre contract phase bid
  • Ability to lead horizontal teams with multi-functional and multi-cultural teams
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Systemic mindset and problem solver
  • Clear thinking and diligent approach
  • Fluent Italian and English Knowledge
  • Work VISA, according to local regulation, is required
  • Travel availability as required by the Business

Desired Characteristics

  • Self-entrepreneurship
  • Previous experience in a Systems Engineering role or equivalent
  • Curiosity and passion for mechanical design and Systems design
  • Capability to work in multicultural environment, preferable previous experience on helicopter gearbox and/or power gearboxes and/or complex systems
  • Knowledge of Helicopter Transmission Systems technical requirements, certification requirements, design solutions and technologies
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and methodologies
