The Vehicle Operability Manager - Program leads a technical team dedicated to maintaining Quality, Cost, and Delivery performance to ensure the success of the program/project. The team, consisting of Vehicle Operability Managers and Triage Engineers with varying levels of experience, strives to improve vehicle-level operability by promptly identifying and resolving issues updating vehicles with the latest compatible software configurations.

Activities:

  • Create the team's workload plan and identify internal or external resource needs.
  • Develop and align processes with global counterparts, ensuring team adherence.
  • Provide thorough onboarding to help new members understand their roles, team objectives, and company culture.
  • Build a skilled team by leveraging technical expertise and feedback.
  • Develop new and innovative ways to triage and test vehicles more efficiently and comprehensively.
  • Enhance and optimize operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure employees have the necessary skills and propose training plans to address gaps and develop the team.
  • Offer continuous training opportunities to keep the team updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and skill development within the team.
  • Handle escalations as needed.
  • Free up means and resources from their center to assist projects in off-nominal situations (crises, etc.).
  • Actively recruit individuals with the required skills, experience, and potential, including interns and apprentices.
  • Communicate regularly with the team to provide context for actions, encourage change, and improve results.
  • Set clear, measurable goals for the team and individuals to ensure alignment with department objectives.
  • Conduct mid-year and annual employee reviews.
  • Provide regular, constructive feedback to help team members improve and grow.
  • Recognize outstanding performance to motivate and retain top talent.
  • Manage salary reviews for the team.
  • Ensure timely production of deliverables and define them as necessary for projects.
  • Validate technical directions proposed by team members.
  • Ensure the team has access to necessary tools, resources, and support to perform tasks effectively.
  • Delegate responsibilities and empower team members to take ownership of their work and make decisions.
  • Encourage collaboration and maintain open communication channels.
  • Promote a supportive and inclusive work environment where team members feel valued and respected.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the team members hierarchically and acts as the client for service providers.
  • Manages a team composed of non-executives (between 8 and 20 collaborators / between 3 and 20 service providers).
  • Responsible for the development and training of team members.
  • Assigns projects and roles and establishes the necessary means to fulfill the entity's mission.
  • Participates in the formulation and implementation of Group policies.
  • Ensures the Quality, Cost, and Delivery performance of the Program deliverables.
  • Manages both internal and external recruitment.
  • Determines salary adjustments for team members in coordination with HR.
  • Contributes to strategy development with external partners and adapts it according to the "make or buy" strategy.
  • Communicates the strategic vision of N+1 and N+2.

Working Relationships:

  • Under the responsibility of the discipline manager/hub manager.
  • Manages a team composed of non-executives (between 8 and 20 collaborators / between 3 and 20 service providers).
  • Collaborates with managers of Design/Development, Validation, Synthesis, Program and Quality for Program/Project convergence.
  • Technically evaluates external partners (service centers, suppliers of means/parts, etc.).
  • Searches for and proposes synergies across multiple Technical Centers (or multiple clusters) and programs/projects.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or relevant field
  • 10 years of experience in the field of electrical/electronics.
  • Minimum English proficiency equivalent to B2.
  • Conduct meetings and working groups in English.
  • General knowledge in automotive.
  • In-depth knowledge in electricity/electronics.
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic architectures.
  • Knowledge of industrialization processes (electrical/electronics).
  • Knowledge of research and development processes and tools.
  • Use of computer tools.
  • Troubleshooting experience with vehicle systems at assembly plants, road trips, pilot build areas and proving grounds.
  • Familiarity with electrical debugging tools such as a digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, CAN diagnostic tools (CANoe/CANalyzer), Chrysler Diagnostic Application (CDA), Dianalyzer, Inca, current probes and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong leadership, communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multitask many assignments and coordinate triage and testing for numerous triage engineers and programs.
  • Basic knowledge of software and modeling concepts.
  • Self-starter with ability to lead and direct a cross-functional team.
  • Energetic leader.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, willing and able to drive and test vehicles, able to obtain a chauffeur's license to drive heavy duty pick-up trucks.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or relevant field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CAN bus and experience using Vector CAN tools (CAN diagnostic tools, CANoe, CANalyzer.).
  • Demonstrated experience with electrical debugging tools such as a digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, current probes, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience performing vehicle and system level trouble shooting/root cause analysis and experience performing circuits analysis on the vehicle sub-systems.
  • Certified problem-solving skills (Reactive Quality Green Belt or Reactive Quality Black Belt).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
