Position Description

Test Analyst I

B19 $48,244 - $76,028

Performs Crash Records Information System (CRIS) application and component analysis and integration, user acceptance, and regression testing to monitor and improve system functionality. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Test Analyst II

B21 $54,278 - $87,046

Performs complex Crash Records Information System (CRIS) application and component analysis and integration, user acceptance, and regression testing to monitor and improve system functionality. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.

Essential Duties:

Test Analyst I

  • Develops and documents test plans for feature testing.
  • Documents and records completed steps of Test Plans.
  • Conducts systems testing to include spatial, user acceptance, integration, and regression.
  • Identifies and coordinates fixes prior to deployment to the production environment.
  • Validates and edits CRIS data, ensuring that the data follows business rules and the appropriate routings are executed.
  • Reviews system design documents and functional requirement specifications; makes recommendations to system updates.
  • Modifies and interprets Extensible Markup Language.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Test Analyst II

All of the Above and:

  • Coordinates and performs Crash Records Information System (CRIS) component preparation and testing activities and interprets test results.
  • Trains new and current employees on CRIS applications and component testing activities.
  • Serves as point of contact and subject matter experts for the Crash Records Information System (CRIS) components and testing.
  • Conducts Ad-Hoc testing outside of testing cycle to identify and capture issues that are found in production
  • Maintains the Crash Records Information System (CRIS) business rules within the configure component.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education (all levels): Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

Test Analyst I: 1 year of experience in Data, software, or systems analysis experience

Test Analyst II: 2 years of experience in Data, software, or systems analysis experience

(Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years in Data, software, or systems analysis experience
  • Considerable knowledge of Texas Transportation Code 550

Test Analyst I and II

  • Considerable knowledge of the limitations and capabilities of computer systems and technology
  • Texas Transportation Code 550
  • Using various software and applications
  • CRIS application and the various components
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to analyze issues, facts, and available information to develop logical solutions; researching inconsistencies of facts available for use by all divisions or data
  • Ability to Draw correct inferences from information and make recommendations that support business decisions
  • Ability to work within established timelines and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to document test plans
  • Understand and follow complex instructions
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Create and modify system application

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
  • Sitting - prolonged periods of time
  • Standing-prolonged periods of time
  • Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
