Powertrain Engine OBD Calibration Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Transmission On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) Calibration Engineer has the opportunity to develop diagnostic calibrations that meet all regulatory, safety, quality and service requirements.
  • They have the responsibility to assure that appropriate testing is defined, planned, and completed to fully validate all diagnostic features.
  • They also serve as the leader for leading cross-functional teams to determine root cause and solutions for development, fast feedback, and customer vehicle diagnostic issues.
  • They will work with a variety of conventional and electrified transmissions that require a diverse set of technical skills to effectively lead their assigned programs.
  • They will guide instrumentation of electrical and physical systems, utilize and review data from acquisition software (INCA) to ensure that desired diagnostic behavior is achieved.
  • The engineer will gather functional requirements as well as required milestones to plan and execute development to achieve on-time successful product launches.
  • The candidate should expect to travel 2-4 weeks throughout the year for system validation/verification.

Requirements:

  • Desire to work both in and out of test vehicles
  • Proficient using INCA, Matlab and Simulink/State flow
  • Understanding of the goals of On-Board Diagnostics
  • Functional understanding of transmission design and operation
  • Basic proficiency with the major purpose & components in an electrified propulsion system
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and business acumen
  • Self-motivated/proactive with strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate both independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database applications

Preferred:

  • Master's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years' experience in OBD calibration, propulsion system component calibration, OBD or propulsion controls within the electric, gasoline or diesel industry
  • INCA, Matlab, Simulink, State flow, Minitab, C++ and Visual Basic experience

Education:

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
