Position Description:
Develops, optimizes, and operates Business Process Management (BPM) software solutions. Builds process solutions using Camunda, Java, Java Script, Groovy, and RESTful API. Facilitates secure interactions between systems to obtain or store information by consuming RESTful Application Programming Interface (API) Integrations using Postman and Camunda. Creates modern User Interfaces (UIs) for user interactions in business process workflows -- HTML, CSS, and Form.IO. Designs Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN 2.0) processes and implements designs using Camunda Modeler. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
- Sets coding standards and best practices.
- Researches capabilities for product releases and coordinates server upgrades.
- Identifies opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement of software delivery.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing BPM applications and RESTful Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing BPM applications and RESTful Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) implementing all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to deliver enterprise-wide BPM solutions by applying BPMN 2.0 standards using BPM tools in an Agile environment; collaborating with product owners to build an itemized backlog using Agile tools (JIRA or TFS); mentoring and coaching junior team members in the areas of BPM Development, BPMN 2.0 standards, BPM Tools -- Camunda or IBM BPM, Forms, Groovy, and UI design.
- DE defining best practices and establishing guardrails for BPM development in IBM BPM or Camunda, creating reusable BPMN process models, and documenting technical standards and anti-patterns in a Center of Excellence environment to deliver best-in-class BPM workflow solutions; building tools for BPM that enable productivity across the organization with static code analyzer; and performing design and code reviews for BPM applications.
- DE architecting and developing robust and maintainable BPM solutions using process modeling, service orchestration, and process re-engineering; building User Task Interfaces for BPM workflows using IBM BPM or Camunda; consuming REST API and SOAP Integrations in a BPM environment; generating and processing JSON and XML payloads and responses; implementing error handling mechanisms, message events, and timers in a BPM environment; and creating modular process models using modeling features -- sub process, nested process and call activities.
- DE identifying resolutions for highly complex technical problems using log files and administration consoles in a BPM environment; reviewing incidents and implementing recovery actions -- retry and moving tokens -- using BPM REST API; and carrying out root-cause analysis to develop logical conclusions and recommend alternative configurations.
