What is the opportunity?

The Program Control Officer will perform one or more of the many ongoing processes governed by the Regulatory Technology Delivery team in Technology and Operations and alignment to the PMO processes and methodologies within RBC. This primarily includes the logistics, maintenance of the regulatory program schedules /or individual project plans. It includes managing and tracking of the overall regulatory portfolio financials, management of action items, issues and risks, change requests, logging inter project dependencies, status reporting for Operating Groups and Executives, and document and communications management duties at the portfolio and program or project level.

What will you do?

  • Monitors, documents and supports program Cost/Financial Management control processes for the programs and the overall portfolio
  • Assist Program Leads with consolidation of the individual project plans into program integrated plan
  • Creation of dependency diagrams, key milestone tracking charts and high level timelines that can be presented to executives
  • Assist in the development and analysis of financial forecast reporting (e.g. identify tracking variances, integrate risks / issues with financial forecasting)
  • Performing periodic program schedule variance analysis and prepare variance reports for the Program Managers and for the overall portfolio
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of contractor/vendor timesheets and invoices
  • Responsible for all delegated deliverables within the program as determined by the Portfolio Lead and the Program Director/Managers
  • Responsible for portfolio and program level reporting, including providing assistance to Program Leadership team in preparing project/program presentations, status updates, meeting agendas & minutes, communications and ad hoc reporting as required

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in a similar role supporting program/ portfolio management
  • Project management experience in both iterative Waterfall and Agile methodologies ( including use of MS project and Jira/ Confluence)
  • Knowledge related to program/project cost management, assumptions and risk based planning, risk assessment, schedule management, status reporting, general administration, and program/project management frameworks
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting

Nice-to-have

  • Experience working in software project management environments
  • Undergraduate degree in Information Technology, finance, accounting, business management or a related field an asset.
  • Experience working with financial forecasting and project tools MIS, Planview, Tableau, Confluence, JIRA
  • Experience managing a work package on a project an asset.
