In this position...

Ford is looking for a Design Release Engineer for the T1 Platform including Ford F-150, Ford Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator. Also includes Raptor and HD variants. You will have engineering responsibility for the greatest off-road drivetrain in the industry. Your parts make the F-150, Expedition, Navigator, and Raptor the best trucks in their segment! New exciting designs are also in the works. We need your talent to deliver them!

You will be part of the Underbody Systems Engineering organization (UnSE). You will be responsible for all Transfer Cases on the T1 Platform which includes F-150, Expedition, Navigator, and Raptor. The T1 Platform builds exclusively out of local North American assembly plants, including the historic Rouge Complex, now Dearborn Truck Plant, and the Kentucky Truck Plant. You will work with existing designs as well as new variants which are yet to be released.

What you'll do...

  • Design, develop and release innovative solutions for enhancing the performance, efficiency, and durability of 4WD Transfer Cases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Design, Manufacturing, and Quality, to ensure the successful implementation of new technologies and processes.
  • Oversee testing and validation activities to ensure the reliability and safety of AWD and Part Time 4WD Transfer Cases.
  • Analyze data and provide technical insights to support product improvements and optimizations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to Automatic Transmissions or Transfer Cases.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and project planning sessions.
  • Support the resolution of technical issues and provide guidance to other team members.

You'll have...

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive engineering, specifically in the design and development of Transfer Cases, Automatic Transmissions, or their related components.

Even better, you may have...

Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Strong knowledge of 4WD transfer case design principles or background in transmissions (either manual or automatic). Looking for background that includes; gear trains, clutches, lubrication, threaded fasteners, and control systems.

Proficiency in using MS Office based software and other software tools for simulation, analysis, and modeling.

Familiarity with Ford Deign and Release Tools – WERS, Teamcenter, FEDE, ED&T, DVP, DFMEA, Quality History, Warranty Analysis.

Experience with performance and durability testing of Transfer Cases or Transmissions.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively to develop innovative solutions.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Some travel may be required (<10%).

This position is a range of salary grades SG5-SG8.
