Job Description

X-Energy is developing multiple robotic systems for building, operating and maintaining the XE-100 plant. This role is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining and testing software and architectures for these robotic systems. Role will include developing device drivers, system software, motor controls, perception software, computer vision processing, and user interfaces. This role includes developing systems in a lab, testing on hardware prototypes and testing on production systems. This role will work collaboratively with other robot designers and subject matter experts to successfully develop reliable robotic systems.

Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Develop software and troubleshoot for a variety of applications.
  • Troubleshoot, debug and resolve issues reported by internal teams or end-users, ensuring a high standard of reliability and performance.
  • The role may include specialization in one or more of the following areas:
    • Special Tooling (Robotics):
      • Design and develop architectures for robotic systems.
      • Design and develop software for device drivers, automation, controls, and perception.
      • Design and develop user interfaces for robotic systems.
      • Implement APIs, telemetry, logging, monitoring, and alerting systems for robotic software components.
      • Write robust and testable code.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Job Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience developing and architecting software applications.
  • Experience with full software lifecycle.
  • Experience with production software.
  • Experience with version control software (e.g. git).
  • Experience and/or knowledge in a minimum of one of the following areas:
    • Special Tooling (Robotics):
      • Experience with robotics and/or automation.
      • Experience developing device drivers, autonomy software and perception software.
      • Experience working with motors and sensors.
      • Experience with C++, Python and Linux.
      • Experience with Inter Process Communication (IPC) such as ROS, ROS2 or DDS.

Location: 530 Gaither Road, Rockville, MD

Work Site Expectations: 4-5 days per week in office

Travel Expectations: up to 15% as needed

Hours: Standard office schedule is 8:00am-5:00pm ET, Mon-Fri

Compensation

As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.). Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them. Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions. Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives.

A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is:

$126,090- $175,125
