Postdoctoral Associate - AI-Linked Cytology (P.I.: Dr. John McDevitt)

New York University

Description

The McDevitt Laboratory within the Department of Molecular Pathobiology at New York University invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Associate position.

Background - Over the past decade, the McDevitt Lab has pioneered the development and clinical validation of platforms that digitize biological information through AI-enhanced sensors. These programmable, miniaturized diagnostic systems are engineered for use across multiple clinical testing areas, with a strong focus on oncology screening applications. Our research has also resulted in innovative microfluidic-based single-cell AI linked analysis modalities for early disease detection. These scalable, lab-on-a-chip tools aim to accelerate the arrival of precision diagnostic care. To advance these transformative tools into clinical practice, we are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of cancer biologists, dentists, clinicians, and bioengineers to drive the development, testing, and optimization of AI linked cytology diagnostic platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and optimize chip-based cytology devices
  • Conduct advanced cytological measurements using microscopy and image analysis software
  • Handle and process human clinical samples, ensuring adherence to biosafety protocols
  • Perform detailed cell-based data analysis, including cytometry and image-based quantification
  • Work independently and collaboratively to design experiments, analyze data, and prepare manuscripts
  • Draft peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, and contribute to grant proposals
  • Participate in translational and entrepreneurial initiatives, based on interest and capabilities

NYU offers excellent benefits. Join NYU’s thriving scientific community and contribute to advancing precision oncology diagnostics and early disease detection technologies at the forefront of biomedical innovation.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $70,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
