Senior Engineer, Software Development

Analog Devices is seeking an Applications Software Engineer to join our to join our customer facing solutions team supporting a broad range of industry leading high-performance linear solutions and standard products in end applications such as industrial automation, instrumentation, automotive, healthcare and communication systems.

The Applications Software Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of user-centric software applications, middleware and core software components. As part of a cross functional team, the Software Engineer also performs definition, development, implementation, and documentation of more system level applications, interacts with the development teams to get a deep understanding of how the designs work, proposes ways to improve the designs to match customers’ expectations and provides technical support for our global customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement and maintain user-centric software interfaces and core software components.
  • Development and design of cross platform graphical user interfaces (GUI), preferably Qt.
  • Provide customer support through the ADI Engineer Zone forum.
  • Manage and coordinate multiple projects that run simultaneously.

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science (CS)
  • Strong knowledge of modern C++ including OOP, STL and GUI programming. Focus on code quality, reusability, and ease of maintenance.
  • Knowledge of GUI development with Qt and QML or similar technology.
  • Experience working with build systems such as CMake/QMake/autotools
  • Experience with SCM (svn/git)
  • Have strong debug, troubleshooting, profiling skills
  • Development experience on macOS/Linux systems
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python/JS/Bash/etc
  • Can work independently and in a team to develop innovative solutions.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in multi-platform and/or cross-platform development (Linux, Unix, Windows, Android, Embedded, iOS)
  • Experience with mobile development platforms (iOS/Android)
  • CI environments (Azure Pipelines/ Github Actions/ Appveyor / Travis CI/etc)
  • Experience working on Open-Source projects
  • Understanding of processor architectures, electronics, electronic test equipment (oscilloscope / spectrum analyzer / etc.) and embedded systems
