Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for delivering precise and timely product designs using SolidWorks 3D software. Your role will involve designing based on customer specifications and custom quotes received from the field. You will be tasked with creating new products and continuously improving the design of existing equipment, all while considering cost-effectiveness. Additionally, you will act as a liaison between fabrication and assembly to resolve any arising issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and timely product designs using SolidWorks 3D software.
• Design new products as well as improve existing equipment designs.
• Develop designs based on customer specifications and custom quotes.
• Design with cost efficiency in mind.
• Serve as a liaison between fabrication and assembly, addressing any issues that arise.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D software.
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Drafting or Design, with a preference for a Bachelor's in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering.
• Experience in 3D modeling and design, including school projects or internships.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience, particularly in automotive or agricultural vehicles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with sheet metal products, including repair and design.
• Familiarity with other design software such as Pro/E, Inventor, or AutoCAD.
• Passion and interest in automotive mechanics, engine repair, and fixing things.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Work Environment

You will be part of the product development team located at a modern aluminum plant in Quincy, which employs around 3000 people. The facility is a manufacturing and assembly site with a large design team comprising detailers, drafters, designers, project engineers, supervisors, and support staff. The company offers onsite café options and local dining within driving distance. It is a family-oriented company with a history spanning over 150 years, fostering a positive atmosphere and low turnover.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.84 - $28.84/hr.
