The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As an Advanced Product Development Engineer in Facilities Care Solutions, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Developing and evaluating new products with activities to include laboratory testing, test method development, hands on field application and testing in customer facilities.
  • Participate on new product development projects and/or new technology development and deployment to enable future growth.
  • Collaborating with the corporate and business group laboratories, global business portfolio partners and business supply chain operations.
  • Support field testing and customer immersion work, some of which may involve irregular or off-hours work.
  • Translating customer needs into technical requirements and participating in the identification and development of technologies that meet those requirements.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in a Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, or Science field from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of hands-on experience in research, product development, and/or commercialization in a private, public, government or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Experience in the areas of nonwovens, abrasives, commercial cleaning products and applications, or related technologies
  • Ability to rapidly create prototypes and test their performance
  • Experience with global and cross-functional teams
  • Customer first mindset

Work location:

  • Onsite – 3M Center Maplewood, MN

Travel: May include up to 15% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $98,413 - $120,282, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
