Summary:

We are currently seeking a Software Engineer to join our Engineering team in Alderley Edge.

What your team does:

Our engineering team is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining high-performance, scalable software that powers critical business processes. We work across a broad technology stack, developing tools and features that support legal and insurance domains at scale. Our team thrives on collaboration, pragmatism, and building software that balances performance with maintainability. We value deep technical thinking, clean code, and engineers who take ownership of end-to-end delivery.

What you’ll work on:

  • Build and maintain full-stack features using C#, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Write performant SQL queries and tune them based on execution plans and indexing strategies
  • Collaborate with other engineers to design scalable, maintainable systems
  • Contribute to both backend services and frontend UI layers using modern practices and tooling
  • Work with cross-functional teams to shape product features and system design
  • Participate in code reviews, mentoring, and architectural discussions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across the stack
  • Occasionally explore and evaluate new technologies, patterns, and tooling

What you may have:

  • 4 years of professional experience in software engineering, ideally across a range of domains
  • Proficiency in C# with a strong understanding of async/await, memory management, and internals
  • Solid understanding of HTML5 and CSS3, including Flexbox and CSS Grid
  • Strong SQL skills, including experience with query optimization, execution plans, and indexing
  • Experience building solutions at scale (high concurrency, large data volumes)
  • Comfortable working in distributed systems and/or monolithic architectures
  • Proven ability to design and own system components
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Serious bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with LESS or other CSS preprocessors
  • Familiarity with tools and platforms like Elasticsearch, Event Store, Pulumi
  • Experience working in small teams or mentoring engineers
  • Contributions to open-source projects (feel free to share your GitHub!)
  • Exposure to microservices and understanding of trade-offs vs monoliths
  • Experience working on legal or insurance software domains
