Your Job

As a Senior Engineer, Process-Plating, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and optimization of plating processes. Your primary purpose involves reviewing production schedules, inspecting equipment, monitoring chemical baths, ensuring quality compliance, and driving improvements across plating processes and production activities. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency, address quality issues, and uphold safety and environmental regulations.

Our Team

This role will be part of the DSS division at Molex Singapore, working closely with internal departments, suppliers, and customers. You will join a dynamic team that values collaboration and innovation to support plating processes and production activities. Strong partnerships with various stakeholders ensure the successful execution of projects and continuous process improvements.

What You Will Do

Process Development & Optimization

• Design, develop, and optimize plating processes (e.g., electroplating, electroless plating).
• Select appropriate plating materials and chemicals based on product requirements.
• Improve process efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance throughput.

Quality Assurance

• Monitor plating quality using techniques like thickness measurement, adhesion testing
• Implement and maintain SPC (Statistical Process Control) and FMEA (Failure Mode and - Investigate and resolve quality issues or defects (e.g., peeling, pitting, uneven coating).

Equipment & Maintenance

• Specify, install, and maintain plating equipment (e.g., tanks, rectifiers, filtration systems).
• Ensure proper calibration and preventive maintenance of tools and instruments.

Chemical Management

• Monitor and control chemical concentrations and bath conditions (pH, temperature, additives).
• Work with chemical suppliers to ensure compliance and performance.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain process documentation, work instructions, and safety data sheets (SDS).
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations (e.g., wastewater treatment, 6. Cross-functional Collaboration
• Work closely with NPI, production, quality, and maintenance teams.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) and process transfer activities.

Training & Support

• Train operators and technicians on plating procedures and safety protocols.
• Provide technical support during audits or customer visits.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s or Diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in the plating industry.
• Proficiency in electrochemistry and surface finishing principles.
• Strong skills in process control, troubleshooting, and data analysis (e.g., Excel, Minitab).
• Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations, including RoHS and REACH compliance.
