This position provides technical and administrative support to all departments for project development and construction. The primary function of this job is developing, coordinating and producing CAD drawings for multi-discipline projects of varying size and complexity. This position is responsible for directing, organizing and controlling the CAD environment for the engineering department. The incumbent is expected to be able to work with minimum supervision and be able to make meaningful recommendations to a project based upon past work experiences and plant knowledge, exhibiting a developed sense of what is critical to the project.
- Produce, manage and oversee development of complex technical drawings and piping isometrics from conceptual layout to detailed finished product using AutoCAD and CADWorx Plant Pro software.
- Using standard survey techniques and instruments, verify field equipment and piping arrangements prior to design and drafting.
- Perform material takeoffs and submit purchase requisitions from general instructions and/or preliminary sketches, diagrams or schematics.
- Develop and implement CAD standards and customization of CAD software.
- Create, review and modify preliminary designs and recommend changes for constructability and process efficiencies.
- Develop piping system stress files and coordinate stress analysis projects.
- Assist in project supervision and coordination between project engineers and contractors.
- Prepare and assemble project deliverables.
- Maintain CAD and legacy document archives.
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
- Associate's degree or completion of technical trade school courses. (Typically three years of related progressive work experience would be need for candidates applying for this position who do not possess an associate's degree.)
- Eight years of design experience using AutoCAD 2002 or higher developing energy, oil, gas or petrochemical industry drawings.
- Two years of experience using CADWorx Plant Pro developing piping and equipment models.
- Must be able to set up piping projects in CADWorx and export piping models to ISOGEN.
- Working knowledge of CAESAR II pipe stress analysis software and hot line design concepts.
- Must be able to evaluate project scope using PID's and specifications and develop piping systems that adhere to plant design standards.
- Knowledge of piping requirements for orifice runs, pumps, control valves and other common industrial equipment.
- Must be able to check and review drawings in field walk down of pipelines, plants and facilities to verify design.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be proficient with the English language with the ability to communicate clearly and precisely.
- A valid California's driver's license.
