Job Description Summary:

The Associate Finance Analyst is responsible for various Control & Reporting and Student Financial Accounting tasks, including capital asset tracking, student accounting refunds, reconciliations of student financial aid funds, processing of student financial aid requests, clearing billing engine fails, and other tasks as assigned. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Financial Reporting & Compliance with a dotted line to the Student Accounting Manager.

Job Description:

Job Duties

  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date listing of newly acquired assets, including tagging, documentation, and proper classification.
  • Ensure all capital assets are accurately recorded and tracked in Workday, including completion of all required fields and supporting details.
  • Review purchase transactions to determine proper capitalization based on institutional thresholds and accounting policy.
  • Coordinate the transfer, disposal, and retirement of capital assets, including documentation and system updates.
  • Reconcile capital asset records in Workday with the general ledger to ensure consistency, completeness, and accuracy.
  • Coordinate and complete the annual physical inventory of capital assets and support related reporting requirements.
  • Prepare asset data and reports to support quarterly reporting and analysis.
  • Assist the Assistant Director with financial reporting tasks, as well as special projects, and ad hoc requests.
  • Collaborate with campus departments to ensure accurate reporting and classification of capital project and asset activity.
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of asset-related procedures to support internal control and compliance efforts.
  • Proactively identify and recommend process improvements related to asset tracking, reporting, and compliance.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Business or related field. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Experience used to substitute education is in addition to any required work experience.

Work Experience:

  • Three (3) years of professional, related experience.
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience analyzing/tracking reports.

Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • Experience using Work Day.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Professional experience in higher education setting and fund accounting.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
