Job Description

Scrap Auditor

To ensure Harsco’s adherence to established scrap management standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Working understanding of the Scrap Inspector, Scale Master, and Weighmaster positions
• Ensure Cleveland Cliff’s scrap management standards are followed specifically 60-392-060.
  • Communication procedures
  • Inspections of inbound scrap procedures and documentation
  • Receiving procedures
    • Inspection and documentation
    • Rail car procedures and documentation
    • “Flag and Tag” system
  • Scrap Testing and documentation.
  • New supplier/nonconforming supplier testing procedures.
    • Hot List
  • Upkeep of the NC Summary, filing of chemistries, and standardizations.
  • Raw Material Storage
  • Bucket loading and documentation.
  • Winter Operation Procedures
• Compliance of ISO 9001/LATF 16949 Quality Management
• Radiation compliance and documentation
• Regular scale tests and documentation
• Camera management
• Lab testing procedures and documentation
• Raw coil management (lancing)
• Inventory and pile management.
  • Work closely with Production Supervisor
  • Pile depletion
  • Accuracy
  • Pile Identification
  • Yard layout for optimum efficiency

Qualifications

Must be able to:

• Bend/stoop for up to 5 minutes while inspecting scrap that is on the ground
• Have the ability to climb flights of stairs to reach the inspection stand at the scrapyard
• Have the ability to climb the ladder on the side of a rail car
• Have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Have the ability to work in ambient temperatures as low as -10 degrees and as high as 105 degrees, all work will be outdoors
• Have the ability to think and make clear decisions under pressure

Education/Experience:

• Some computer experience preferred, i.e. Excel, Word, generic knowledge
• Previous scrap metal experience would be beneficial but not required
• Must have a high school education or equivalent
