JOB TITLE: Orderly
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Orderly will assist medical and/or nursing staff with various routine tasks. Duties may include OR room turnovers, transporting patients, gathering or moving equipment/supplies, changing linens, and cleaning in a fast-paced surgical center environment.
- Clean the operating room suite: wipe down surfaces and equipment, take out garbage, mop floors, exchange equipment, turn over anesthesia area, clean under and around equipment.
- Make beds and collect dirty linen.
- Getting and restocking supplies as needed.
- Helps keep department clean and clutter free.
- Assist with turnovers including cleaning and preparing for the next case.
- May open sterile supplies, under direction of ORT
- May scrub into procedures to hold extremities, retractors, cameras and other necessary assistance.
- Help position the patent under supervision of RN.
- Help move patient from gunnery to OR bed and OR bed to gurney.
- Lift patients onto and from beds.
- May set up anesthesia suction and circuit.
- Pull cases
- Restock
- Transport dirty instruments to CP
- Transport clean instruments from CP to OR
- Keeps storage areas clean and organized
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- CNA preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish) speaking a plus
REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to lift 50lbs
- Able to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to understand aseptic technique
- Self-starter
- Work with limited supervision
- Ability to read and interpret sterile indicators
- Able to hear and verbally communicate
- Able to wear PPE and lead as needed
- Able to be around blood and body parts
- Able to wear masks for extended periods of time
- Take direction and instructions
- Good time management and prioritization of tasks
