We are looking for you to join our SEIT Synergy Organization as Systems Security Engineering Manager 2, 100% on-site at our Linthicum, MD location.

What You'll Get to Do:

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector (NGMS) is seeking a Systems Security Engineering Manager 2 to join our System Security Engineering (SSE) team within the SEIT Synergy Organization. The SSE team is cross-disciplinary across the security domain encompassing embedded Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, Software Security and Anti-Tamper Engineering.

The Systems Security Engineering Manager 2 will also be expected to perform productive (direct charge) work on programs in addition to functional management duties. It is anticipated that the position will oversee ~9-12 technical Engineers, the split between functional and program duties will be approximately 20/80, on average.

This leader must be able to create a culture of well-being, inclusion and engagement that attracts, retains, and enables a high performing workforce.

Functional Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead staff based on goals, objectives, and company policies.
  • Provide engineering staffing to programs.
  • Ensure adherence to established engineering processes.
  • Manage workload forecasting, hire/develop new engineering talent.
  • Prepare, manage and conduct Quarterly Connections.
  • Manage department budge and support compensation planning.
  • Interact with business divisions to coordinate staffing and other program support (e.g. proposal support, proposal reviews, design reviews, customer meetings).

Program Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Manage systems engineering support to programs.
  • Provide System Engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) leadership and perform/support risk development and management.
  • Lead and support requirements analysis.
  • Manage and develop functional baseline allocations.
  • Support writing specifications (e.g. RFIs/RFQs/RFPs), ICDs, systems engineering work scope, design reviews (e.g. SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, TRR TIMs, etc.) and capture/proposal activities.
  • Develop systems engineering documentation (SE plans, models, and other CDRL deliverables).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers, homerooms and sectors.
  • Ensure training to staff on Systems Engineering Tools (MATLAB, C/C++, Java, Python, DOORS, Rhapsody, Cameo, etc.) required to support their programs.

This position is contingent upon contract award, the successful transfer of an active DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 6 years of experience or a PhD with 4 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • U.S Citizenship is required.
  • A current/active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain/maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access prior to start.
  • 2 years’ experience with people management or IPT leadership
  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, or Anti-Tamper processes and milestones; understanding of the requirements analysis, decomposition, and allocation process.
  • Experience with establishing and maintaining customer and/or program communications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical fields.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance or higher.
  • Security Certifications that include but not limited to: CISSP [-SSCP, -CCSP, -CSSLP, -ISSMP, -ISSAP], Security+, CEH, GPEN.
  • Experience contributing to and/or making technical presentations to internal and external customers.
  • Experience in technical problem solving, to include decomposition of requirements, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoring of tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse system teams and attract, recruit, and develop top talent.

Salary Range: $149,400.00 - $224,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
