Data Engineer

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our team at GC. This role will be based in Mexico City. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. As a Data Engineer at GC, will serve as the facilitator for multiple innovative initiatives, with ownership over the design, development, and delivery of projects that require direct reporting to senior-level management in both business and technical groups.

We will count on you to:

  • Back Develop, deploy, and maintain custom data pipelines powering machine learning algorithms, insights generation, client benchmarking tools, business intelligence dashboards, reporting, and new data products.
  • Innovate new ways to leverage large and small datasets, including semi- and unstructured data, to drive revenue via the development of new products or the enhancement of existing products.
  • Maintain and improve the stability and performance of the data platform environment, including Databricks workspaces that support over 10 applications and more than 300 users.
  • Ingest, store, and create products using geospatial data, including geocoding and geospatial joins.
  • Perform exploratory and goal-oriented data analyses to understand and validate the requirements of data products and help create product roadmaps.
  • Develop, implement, and deploy APIs and UIs, which may include business intelligence dashboards and file ingestion mechanisms.

What you need to have:

  • 3- 6+ years of relevant experience in data-focused software engineering
  • Master’s Degree, or equivalent experience in computer science, or related quantitative field such as data science or applied mathematics.
  • Strong experience in Python and familiarity with OOP and functional programming principles.
  • Extensive experience with (Py)Spark.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and familiarity with the high-level properties of modern data stores.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, etc.
  • Advanced Level of English is a Must

  • Experience with Databricks and optimizing Spark clusters
  • Strong understanding of entity resolution, streaming technologies, and ELT/ETL frameworks
  • Experience with Datadog or similar monitoring/alerting tools.
