General Job Description

Position Summary

The Senior Fleet Manager will lead the strategic planning and daily operations of IES Residential's vehicle and equipment fleet across all job sites and offices. This role ensures fleet efficiency, safety, regulatory compliance, and cost effectiveness. The Sr. Fleet Manager will oversee procurement, maintenance, and lifecycle management for a growing fleet supporting our nationwide services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full lifecycle management of all company vehicles and equipment, including acquisition, registration, preventive maintenance, and disposal.
  • Develop and implement fleet policies, procedures, and compliance protocols aligned with DOT, OSHA, and EPA standards.
  • Monitor vehicle telematics, fuel usage, and driver behavior to optimize performance and reduce operating costs.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Safety, and Field Operations to align fleet availability with project needs and job timelines.
  • Lead fleet audits, vehicle inspections, and manage documentation for regulatory and internal reporting.
  • Maintain relationships with manufacturers, dealerships, leasing companies, and service providers.
  • Track and report KPIs including utilization, cost per mile/hour, downtime, and incident rates.
  • Manage fleet budget and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Supervise fleet coordinators or administrative staff (if applicable).
  • Support sustainability initiatives including evaluating alternative fuel or electric vehicles.

Specific Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience managing large commercial or construction fleets, preferably in the electrical or building trades industry.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, fleet compliance, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts.
  • Proficiency in fleet management software and systems (e.g., GPS/telematics platforms).
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
