Job Description

Intern will shadow members of the Economic Development team including marketing, business development-attraction and retention efforts. We are looking for a candidate who is interested in learning about economic development and enthusiastic about the City of Chesapeake. Intern will attend meetings, events and participate with daily activities.

Required Qualifications

Must be a college student in good academic standing, or a recent college graduate (i.e., within one year of graduation).

Special Instructions to Applicants

The length of the internship may vary from (August 18, 2025 – December 5, 2025) depending on the student’s curriculum. The student will be able to work a maximum of 240 hours.

Interns will be limited to one internship per school year.

Students participating in the Internship Program will be responsible for :

  • Providing their own transportation to and from work,
  • Arriving at the work site at the time designated by the work site supervisor.
  • Performing the tasks assigned by the vocational instructor/coordinator and the work site supervisor in an efficient manner.
  • Demonstrating honesty, punctuality, courtesy, a cooperative attitude, appropriate dress, and a willingness to learn.
  • Conforming to the guidelines of the internship work site.

Overall Physical Strength Demands L=Light - Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly OR requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
