As the Manufacturing Laboratory Technologist, you will be the process owner for Heat Treatment activities related to Diffusion Bonding and Outgas furnaces. You will deliver laboratory support within a high-specification manufacturing environment and ensure product integrity through rigorous process control and technical problem solving. This role plays a key part in the ongoing compliance to international standards, as well as supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and control the methods used to ensure product integrity of components processed through Diffusion Bonding and Outgas furnaces.
  • Analyze technical problems, apply sound engineering judgment, and document decisions with clarity and precision.
  • Interpret design and engineering requirements to ensure shop floor processes remain compliant with national and international standards.
  • Develop and maintain shop floor instructions and participate in audit procedures (e.g., NADCAP, internal quality reviews).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and local experts to align technical requirements across the manufacturing process.
  • Manage and communicate progress of technical activities to relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement new or improved manufacturing processes and technologies to meet current and future business needs.
  • Approve process procedures, stage drawings, and Methods of Manufacture (MoMs) for both in-house and externally manufactured parts.
  • Maintain operator training and qualification frameworks for special processes, ensuring timely updates when specification changes occur.
  • Prepare and maintain Rationalized Quality Specifications (RQSCs) and Quality Control Test Procedures (QCTPs) for sensitive and critical parts.
  • Lead cross-disciplinary teams to drive process improvements and resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Perform microstructural evaluation and acceptance of test samples from steel, titanium, and nickel alloys at various manufacturing stages.
  • Support the acquisition and commissioning of new processing equipment through selection, justification, and qualification activities.
  • Drive process control and continuous improvement activities to reduce variation, including identification of opportunities for data collection and centering.

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in cleanroom operations is preferred or willingness to work in such environments is required.
  • Familiarity with special processes such as heat treatment, diffusion bonding, and materials evaluation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of international quality standards and audit practices (e.g., NADCAP, ISO).
