Job Summary

Assist in ensuring quality classroom management and enforcing school and district policies; Focuses on student attendance and behavior; Shares general administrative responsibilities.

What you will do

  • Manage student supervision and enforce behavioral expectations per school and district policies.
  • Establish and maintain positive public relations with staff members, students, parents, and community; meet with students/parents/teachers to resolve conflicts, concerns/problems. Provide the opportunity for students to learn from their experiences and become successful in the school environment. Counsel students and parents about expectations, school and district policies.
  • Assists staff and parents in developing and communicating student behavioral expectations.
  • Assist in the planning, developing and implementing of individual student behavior plans.
  • Serve as a resource to staff in developing effective classroom management strategies.
  • Assist in developing programs to promote positive student behavior and intervention strategies.
  • Coordinate alternative education placement for students.
  • Confer appropriate consequences for inappropriate behavior including, but not limited to, detention, in school suspension and out of school suspension.
  • Review and make recommendations on proposed policies and/or changes in existing policies; implement policies as approved by the Board of Education; enforce policies and procedures and protect students’ rights.
  • Maintain record system for area of responsibility; process daily paperwork including reports, memos, requisitions, and personnel information.
  • Supervise compilation of student data, including discipline and attendance. Gather and maintain information/data to support periodic and special reports documenting activities for area of responsibility.
  • Attend or conduct staff, committee, PTA and other professional meetings to exchange information; attend professional classes, seminars, or conferences to improve professional skills.
  • Assist in monitoring and supervision of school activities and events including lunch, pep rallies, dances, open houses, athletic events, etc.

Education Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in educational administration, guidance, counseling or related field Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • 1-3 years Teaching or leadership experience in an urban school community Required

Licenses and Certifications

  • Teaching Certification/License Educator or Professional license issued by the TN Dept of Education Upon Hire Required
  • Administrator license issued by the TN Dept of Education Upon Hire Required

Equivalency

Starting At: $52,048.58

Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
