Summary:

  • We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Stress Engineer with a strong background in the analysis, certification, and testing of composite and metallic primary structures.
  • Demonstrate technical depth, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex engineering concepts with clarity and confidence.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for stress analysis of composite primary structures (experience with metallic structures is highly desirable).
  • Perform detailed stress analysis using both classical hand calculation methods (Bruhn, Peery, Roark, ESDU) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools.
  • Prepare certification stress reports and collaborate with FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs).
  • Support and interpret structural testing activities.
  • Clearly explain and defend analysis methodologies, assumptions, and results to internal teams and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • FAA DER certification (14 CFR Part 23/25) is a strong plus but not required.
  • Proficient in FEA tools such as NASTRAN and FEMAP.
  • Familiar with 3D modeling in CATIA V5—ability to manipulate and extract data from models.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Visual Basic (VB), or MATLAB is highly desirable.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

Physical Requirements:

  • Exposure to operational environments with equipment noise, temperature fluctuations, dust, and aircraft-related odors.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, climb, and reach for extended periods as required by the role.
  • Must adhere to all safety and regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.).
  • Ability to read, write, hear, and speak clearly in English.
  • Lift and move items up to 10 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. or more with assistance technology.
