Job Description

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand multi-team administrative requirements and designing scalable solutions
  • Being a mentor and example to more junior engineers on the team
  • Delivering great user experience to administrators by ideating and confirming tech feasibility of solutions for large-scale enterprises
  • Leading continuous improvement efforts within your team
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to the team’s domain and participating in the on-call rotation
  • Providing on-call support for critical Canva services
  • Helping guide the architecture of high-volume, high-data, enterprise-ready services
  • Staying updated on industry trends and best practices to innovate and improve the domain

You're probably a match if:

  • You have experience architecting scalable and maintainable services
  • You’re a role model for engineering best practices
  • You have production-level experience in Java
  • You practice disciplined coding, code reviews and pull requests
  • You’re a strong communicator and collaborator who always seeks to understand the problem before coding
  • Bonus: experience with Protocol Buffers and AWS services like DynamoDB and SNS/SQS

The Admin Experience Group is on a mission to revolutionise how large teams utilise and administer Canva. We deeply understand the needs of our diverse customers, ranging from classrooms to workplaces. Our primary focus is to design new features that empower our users with flexible configuration and robust team management capabilities.
