About the Position:

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.

Meet with Cox students and alumni to drive career readiness through coaching, advising and training for effective job search activities (on and off-campus), including interviews, site visits, networking events, job fairs, and information sessions. Administer and interpret career-related assessment tools. Teach career decision-making methods and application of principles for securing highly competitive (and compensating) business jobs and internships. Provide career development subject matter expertise in fields such as finance, consulting, marketing, real estate, accounting, etc. Plan and implement targeted career development events/other duties as assigned by Director. Collaborate and serve as a resource to industry/functional area staff in the career center. Collaborate as needed with the department director and other designated staff to identify and cultivate relationships with local, regional, and national organizations.

Essential Functions:

  • Career coaching/Training (individual): Manage all career coaching for the portion of the 2000+ BBA student population interested in Finance, Financial Consulting, and Real Estate as well as 90+ MSF graduate students in career planning, personal branding, job search, school-to-work transition, and career transition and management; administer & interpret career assessments for students.
  • External Relations/Employer Outreach: Performs outreach functions with groups such as students, faculty, staff, alumni
  • and employer recruiters to effectively engage in career-related activities; participates in industry/function-specific events
  • (i.e. conferences, workshops, etc.) for professional development & department visibility; serve as staff liaison with MS Admissions.
  • Career Coaching/Training (group/workshops): Lead BBA/MS group coaching sessions and/or facilitate sessions with students in specific career management phases or skills; design, develop, and execute functional area specific career
  • development seminars/workshops including classroom presentations by faculty invitation; plan and manage career-related program presentations upon request.
  • Event Planning: Plan and execute industry/function-specific events to connect employers/alumni with students; Collaborate with other department staff to ensure goals/objectives and logistical requirements are delivered and met; assess effectiveness of each program of event in a timely manner.
  • Facilitation: Lead instruction of students enrolled in BBA/MSF career courses (audiences of up to 70). Plan curriculum, prepare and deliver meaningful and current content, assess and evaluate student learning outcomes, and provide actionable feedback. Utilize relationships with employers/alumni to maintain relevancy with current market conditions for BBA/MSF recruiting.
  • Reporting: Prepare required reports (such as placement), program and student learning outcomes and assessment
  • plans, and other required data/information as directed and in a timely manner.
  • Support BBA and MS Admissions: represent the CMC in admissions activities such as information sessions and conduct yield-focused conversations with high-potential prospective applicants. Develop career-related marketing content for website / publications.
  • Occasional evening hours may be required to attend career-related events.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master's degree is preferred. A degree in Business is preferred.

A minimum of three (3) years of experience is required. Experience in finance and/or consulting in a functional role or in recruiting is required. Experience working in a career center is highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.

Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.

Candidate must be able to work independently and within a team environment.

Candidate must have a strong business acumen to discuss business terminology from finance or marketing perspective.

Candidate ability to build and manage relationships is essential.

Candidate must demonstrate strong coaching skills and understand diverse cultural backgrounds.

Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet and email communication systems.

Candidate working knowledge of social media tools is preferred.
