Job Summary

The Research Intern will play a role in helping us better understand user needs, assess market opportunities, and identify differentiators that strengthen our positioning. They will integrate data from universities and explore the legal/policy side of AI, technological innovation, and startups.

This is a Campus Critical position. An employee designated as campus critical is expected to be aware of the campus emergency management plan and to report to Campus as soon as possible in the event of an emergency to assist in campus wide response and recovery efforts.

Essential Job Duties

  • Enhance the user experience to specifically target high school students.
  • Research competitors (what are they doing and how can we do it better).
  • Identify current knowledge gaps in the college admissions process.
  • Collect anecdotal data from LCHS counselors and quantifiable data from surveys from across the country.
  • Ideate additional solutions to the problem (personal statement chatbot brainstorming, targeting admissions offices at universities, using data collected from students to recommend organizations and clubs on campus).
  • Integrate data from universities (admissions files, student sentiment, etc.).
  • Learn more about how to mitigate bias in AI to close gaps in equity in the college admissions process.
  • Explore the legal/policy side of AI, technological innovation, and startups.
  • Design an online survey to gauge student interest in an AI college counselor, such as the one offered by Eduloop.

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Curiosity about startups, product development, or market strategy.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaborating in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in tools like Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) or Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship or project-based experience in business consulting, product strategy, or marketing analysis.
  • Familiarity with web or product analytics tools such as Google Analytics or similar platforms.
  • Demonstrated interest in startups, innovation, or go-to-market strategy through coursework, clubs, or personal projects.
