Your Impact

You will spend about 80% of your time working at client location as part of consulting teams helping solve complex client problems in manufacturing and supply chain domains.

This work includes but is not limited to: shop floor transformations, yield and throughput enhancements; unlocking workforce productivity; unlocking capacity in manufacturing plants; reducing cost and defects from poor quality production; ensuring reliable, flexible and safe production, as well as maximizing asset returns in production, developing optimal network configuration models for global supply chains of clients, simulating inventory levels with the objective of creating a sound inventory policy etc.

You will build your expertise in Global Energy & Metals (GEM) across industries and will be mentored by our implementation experts who bring decades of industry experience and a track record driving change in complex organizations.

You will be based in one of our India offices - Bengaluru, Chennai, Gurugram, Kolkata or Mumbai - as a part of McKinsey Implementation in the Operations practice.

Our Global Energy & Metals practice is committed to helping clients outperform and innovate across Oil & Gas, Metals & Mining, Electric Power/Natural Gas and Chemicals & Agriculture industries.

Your qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in industrial or mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, manufacturing or operations management (supplemented by technical training), with a strong quantitative underpinning and an outstanding academic record
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in a team environment
  • Skills in lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience with product ionization (process flow diagram, process automation, line automation)
  • Experience with line automation/hardware e.g. PLCs, Robots, SCADA, VFDs etc.
  • Experience in IoT, Industry 4.0, digital use cases, dashboards
  • Expertise in root cause analysis for scrap and rework rejection; fish bone analysis, PFMEA etc.
