Job Summary: The Laboratory Information Systems Analyst is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and enhancing laboratory instrumentation systems. This role is responsible for new implementations, upgrades, and maintenance.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or Medical Technologist (MT) through the ASCP, preferred.

Work Experience: Minimum 3 years related experience. Laboratory Technologist or Laboratory Management experience, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Basic knowledge of business processes and procedures. Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other applicable software. Strong knowledge of laboratory operational workflows and clinical impact. Proven knowledge of customizing and maintaining rule-based configurations to automate functions between Laboratory instruments and the Laboratory Information System (LIS). Working knowledge of various laboratory instrument connectivity protocols (i.e. American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM), Health Level Seven (HL7), Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM)) and of contemporary middleware solutions (i.e. Data Innovations Instrument Manager (DI IM), CareSphere, REMISOL). Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, that present clear and concise information. Effective customer service skills. Strong ability to analyze, implement, and support laboratory information systems within clinical settings. Proven ability to assess problems and devise effective solutions. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with competing deadlines.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Performs necessary investigations, analyses and evaluations of current systems to enhance or modify them to meet the changing needs of laboratory operations. Completes any needed initial research to determine project feasibility. Assists in the development of work plans, task sequencing, and the extent to which tasks may be performed concurrently. Performs any required system configuration. Coordinates with vendors, other teams and operational leaders to complete changes. Takes responsibility for creating and executing project plans. Ensures the appropriate change control procedures are followed and creates the appropriate systems documentation. Coordinates project communication to other team members, users, management and other applicable Information Systems (IS) areas.

Decision Making: The carrying out of non-routine procedures under constantly changing conditions, in conformance with general instructions from a supervisor.

Working Relationships: Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
