Join Qualcomms Target Power & Thermal Auto team in optimizing power consumption and thermal performance for a wide array of use cases. We are looking for talented engineers who want to work in a fast paced environment solving complex hardware and software problems across a wide array of software platforms involving Android, HVX etc. In this highly visible role, the candidate will perform system level software optimizations using hardware and software power/thermal management techniques, develop algorithms and techniques to optimize OS scheduler and other software components for better power and thermal performance, and solve broad system level power and thermal problems in software. This role is particular is highly geared towards Modem 4G/5G power optimization on the Qualcomm’s cutting edge Modem technology for Automotive segment.

Required Competencies(All competencies are required upon entry)

• Software Engineering - Knowledge of the overall process for developing new software. This includes knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of software engineering and other functions, major phases, checkpoints and deliverables. This also includes the ability to identify common issues and considerations for bringing a new product to the marketplace.
• Technical Troubleshooting - Knowledge of systematic approaches to solving common technical problems (e.g., hardware, software, application, operational). This includes the ability to identify problems and report and escalate problems according to established procedures. This also includes the ability to identify available resources for troubleshooting.
• Time Management - The ability to quickly prioritize mission-critical from less important or trivial work activities. This includes sensing what the next most useful thing is to work on, and focusing on the critical few tasks that add value while putting aside or delaying the rest.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

• 2+ years of experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Systems/HW background with a good understanding of microprocessor architecture and common SoC hardware blocks (Interconnects, Display, Graphics etc.)
• Operating systems concepts - scheduling, memory management, process management, interrupt handling and device drivers
• Using debug tools like JTAG debugger, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.
• Knowledge on power or Power/thermal management SW development.
• In-depth knowledge in the areas of Embedded Systems, Microcontrollers, SoC Power, Multimedia, and Wireless communications, System level debugging and analysis for SoC power optimizations.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$111,300.00 - $166,900.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
