Our organization: Recombia Biosciences is a metabolic engineering company and part of the Lesaffre Group since 2022. Pay Range: $100K-$120K; salary range is commensurate with qualifications and experience

What you bring to the table

Are you a talented Synthetic and Systems Biology Scientist ready to push the boundaries of microbial engineering? At Recombia Biosciences, you'll have the opportunity to innovate cutting-edge solutions using the latest systems, machine learning, and bioinformatics technologies.

What you’ll do as a Synthetic and Systems Biology Scientist I

  • Propose and implement improvements to expand LIMS functionality for customized workflows, automated workflows and data management
  • Leverage cloud computing services, developer platforms, and data warehouses to store and analyze experimental, assay, and sequencing data
  • Utilize your experience with the machine learning algorithm based multi-omics data analysis
  • Design and perform molecular cloning for genetic parts characterization etc, provide feedback for continuous workflow improvement as wet lab side projects
  • Collaborate with the Lesaffre Biofoundry scientists and engineers to produce innovative scientific and data-driven solutions to synthetic biology problems
  • Independently troubleshoot complex problems, perform root cause analysis, and propose solutions to support metabolic engineering projects
  • Serve as a scientific subject matter expert on digital and data transformation
  • Complete tasks efficiently, independently, and within stated deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Biomolecular Engineering, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Industrial Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biology, or related field
  • Or Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of industry experience in the Biotechnology field
  • Expertise in Synthetic biology design, NGS data process and analysis
  • Programming and data analysis experience (Python, R)
  • Expertise with interacting with cloud computing and data warehouses
  • Expertise with developer coding platforms (GitHub, GitLab)
  • Some experience in molecular biology techniques for yeast and bacteria, including PCR, molecular cloning, genome editing, and DNA sequencing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Whole genome sequence based metabolic network construction and Flux balance analysis
  • Familiarity with Benchling LIMS
  • Proficiency in French to foster collaboration with Lesaffre (spoken and written)
  • Some experience working with or operating automated laboratory equipment, such as liquid handlers
