Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Technical Director with deep expertise in Audio and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to lead the development and implementation of cutting-edge audio technologies. This pivotal role will be responsible for defining the technical roadmap, architecting sophisticated DSP solutions, and guiding a team of engineers to deliver exceptional audio performance across our product portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of audio principles, a proven track record in DSP algorithm design and implementation, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into tangible, high-quality audio experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership & Strategy:
- Define and drive the technical strategy and roadmap for all audio and DSP related initiatives, aligning with overall product and company objectives.
- Research and evaluate emerging audio technologies, DSP algorithms, and hardware platforms to identify opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage.
- Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Lead architectural design and technical specifications for complex audio systems, ensuring scalability, robustness, and optimal performance.
- DSP Algorithm Design & Implementation:
- Design, develop, and optimize advanced DSP algorithms for various audio applications, touch controllers and optical image stabilization including but not limited to: noise reduction, frequency planning, audio effects, acoustic echo cancellation, or audio compression.
- Hands-on implementation of DSP algorithms in real-time embedded systems, software applications, and/or hardware accelerators.
- Proficiently utilize simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python) for algorithm development and analysis.
- System Architecture & Integration:
- Architect end-to-end audio signal chains, from transducer input to audio output, considering all aspects of analog and digital signal flow.
- Collaborate closely with hardware engineers, software developers, and product managers to ensure seamless integration of signal processing technologies into our products.
- Architect and design efficient multi-purpose signal processing IPs for consumer applications such as IIR filters based on delta-transform and noise shaping, windowing, PDM/Sigma-Delta modulators, Interpolators/Decimators, FIR filter, DDS, Asynchronous Sample Rate Converters, IQ demodulator or CIC filters.
- Innovation & Research:
- Stay current on latest advancements in audio research, academic papers, and industry trends.
- Contribute to intellectual property development (patents, publications) as appropriate.
- Champion a culture of innovation, encouraging experimentation and creative problem-solving.
- Company wide/cross functional impact and influence.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Acoustics, or a related field with a strong emphasis on Digital Signal Processing.
- 20+ years of progressive experience in audio engineering and DSP development, with a significant portion in a leadership or senior technical role.
- Deep theoretical and practical understanding of core DSP concepts (e.g., sampling theory, filter design (FIR/IIR), FFT, convolution, adaptive filters, psychoacoustics).
- Expertise in designing and implementing real-time audio algorithms on various platforms (e.g., embedded processors, FPGAs, GPUs, general-purpose CPUs).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and MATLAB for DSP development and prototyping.
