Overview

We are excited to announce a newly created opportunity for a Finance Manager within Artex. This new role will report directly to the Finance Director, coordinating the accounting, reporting and analysis for the UK, Ireland, Malta, Guernsey, and a recent acquisition. This is your chance to create a significant impact in a dynamic and ambitious team!

How you'll make an impact

  • Build a central finance team to support the UK and European Artex business.
  • Manage the month-end process and ensure accurate reporting within strict deadlines. Review monthly journals prepared by the finance team.
  • Lead the accounting for non-standard transactions, including acquisitions, restructures, and dividends, ensuring accurate recording with Corporate Accounting.
  • Collaborate closely with local accounting staff, other Glasgow-based accounting teams, Corporate Accounting, and the outsourced function in India.
  • Coordinate the month-end reconciliations process, ensuring all reconciliations are completed flawlessly and on time. Participate in quality reviews and implement required improvements.
  • Foster relationships within the wider finance function in Glasgow, regional teams, and Corporate Accounting.
  • Develop a solid understanding of the Artex EMEA business and its operations.
  • Ensure full compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Lead ad-hoc projects and technical tasks as the need arises.
  • Centralize accounting tasks from regional finance teams, determining which tasks should transition to India and Glasgow.
  • Participate in the roll-out of a new accounting package for Artex and identify further opportunities for centralization.
  • Align with AJG Professional Standards Manual and stay in sync with statutory requirements, including Whistle Blowing and Treating Customers Fairly.
  • Follow internal policies and procedures, adhering to applicable laws, rules, regulations, and Gallagher’s shared values, particularly putting clients at the heart of our business.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and good governance. Address any shortcomings with remedial action planning in conjunction with relevant experts.

About You

  • University Degree or equivalent experience
  • CA, ACCA, ACA qualification
  • Either have qualified at a leading professional services firm and transitioned into the industry, or currently working within a large, complex business
  • Proven management experience
  • US GAAP and SOX experience preferred
  • Professional services background
  • Project management experience or experience implementing new processes and controls
  • Consistent track record in managing priorities and adhere to challenging deadlines
  • Adaptability to change
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Flexible attitude towards multiple tasks and environments
  • Experience in process redesign and implementation
  • Strong people management skills
  • Strong organisational and influencing skills
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
