Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team, working on a variety of industrial projects including the design of power generation and medium voltage power distribution systems. The projects range from small facility modifications to complex EPC contracts, and some travel to project and construction sites will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer medium voltage power generation systems for gas generator packages.
  • Coordinate construction, operation, and maintenance of electric power generating, receiving, and distribution stations, and distribution systems and equipment.
  • Develop conceptual layouts and sketches to drive the most efficient design on a project-by-project basis.
  • Participate in the planning, scheduling, and coordinating detailed phases of electrical engineering projects.
  • Create work products including one-line diagrams, protective relay settings, three line drawings, and conduct arc flash assessment and mitigation.
  • Perform power energy and power quality audits.
  • Develop equipment specifications, construction specifications, and contractor scope of work documents.
  • Direct preparation of drawings and specify types of equipment and materials to be used in construction and equipment installation, overseeing procurement activities including technical bid analysis.
  • Inspect completed installations for conformance with design and equipment specifications and safety standards.
  • Work with systems and equipment grounding requirements, including high resistance, building, and isolated grounding.
  • Provide on-site startup support and commissioning supervision.

Essential Skills

  • Extensive experience in power generation, electrical design, and medium voltage systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and a strong understanding of applicable codes and standards such as NEC, ANSI, NEMA, and NFPA.
  • 5-15+ years of experience in the design of medium voltage power generation and distribution equipment.
  • Experience in consulting engineering and the construction industry.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to handle onsite plant projects with minimal supervision.

  • Courage to challenge the status quo and a well-organized approach to meeting deadlines and operating within budgets.
  • PE license in good standing.
  • Experience working directly with client engineers and maintenance teams.

Work Environment

The role will involve working both in an office setting and on construction sites, requiring travel to various project locations. The successful candidate will engage with modern technologies and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and codes. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
