Job Title: Distribution Designer

Job Description

This position involves providing distribution design for overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems ranging from 4kV to 69kV. The role includes activities such as quality reviews of design, monitoring and maintaining project schedules, reporting changes that impact schedule and budget, identifying risks affecting schedule and costs, and presenting opportunities to enhance the design and construction of distribution projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design overhead and/or underground distribution facilities.
  • Prepare design sketches, drawings, cost estimates, bills of material, and other required documents for construction.
  • Apply standards, guidelines, specifications, practices, procedures, and industry standards in preparing designs.
  • Perform distribution system design calculations.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of design documents for construction, including plans, profiles, structure loadings, design details, trench and conduit drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Communicate with clients and engineers regarding system requirements and identify Right of Way for proposed equipment.
  • Acquire field data as necessary and collaborate with field surveying to prepare appropriate designs.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in drafting and design using AutoCAD and Microstation.
  • One to two years of design experience using Microstation or AutoCAD.
  • Associate degree in applied science (AAS) in drafting and computer-aided design (CAD) or in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology or equivalent experience and/or education.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with traffic control drafting.
  • Ability to utilize piping design principles.
  • Experience in using aud cad.

Work Environment

The work environment allows for flexibility in scheduling and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
