Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to oversee the design and coordination of mechanical systems across multiple projects. This role involves collaborating closely with project managers and stakeholders, developing detailed construction documents, and conducting construction administration tasks. You will ensure compliance with building codes and standards, while coordinating with other engineering disciplines, architects, and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the design and coordination of mechanical systems across multiple projects.
• Serve as a client-facing engineer, collaborating closely with project managers and stakeholders.
• Develop detailed construction documents, including drawings and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, controls, and specialty piping systems.
• Conduct construction administration tasks such as reviewing submittals and managing design revisions during construction.
• Perform system calculations, equipment selection, and layout development from schematic design through construction documents.
• Research and apply relevant building codes and standards to ensure compliance.
• Coordinate effectively with other engineering disciplines, architects, and contractors to deliver integrated and successful project outcomes.

Essential Skills

• Experience with HVAC and plumbing design for buildings.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience in fire protection systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in MEP design and building systems.

Work Environment

The position primarily involves working in an office setting with occasional travel to local projects in Central Illinois. The work environment is fast-paced, with engineers set up in a collaborative pit area alongside tenured staff with over 30 years of experience. The standard workday is from 8 to 5, including a one-hour lunch break, within a team of 15-20 employees. The role offers flexibility with scheduling for appointments, children, and emergencies, along with opportunities for career advancement and mentorship from senior engineering staff.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.66 - $40.87/hr.
