As an Electrical Engineer with MTSI you will apply modeling and simulation and simulation architecture development skills and techniques in a lab setting. The candidate will provide hands-on scientific and technical intelligence engineering support across all disciplines of aerospace system analysis – electronics, software, complex digital devices, mechanical and material properties, and propulsion. Strong candidates will have a solid engineering background with hands-on lab experience and leadership experience across a variety of technical disciplines. This position is in the Dayton, OH area.

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:

  • Analyze and document system design, operation, architecture, and subsystem interactions.
  • Build, test and/or evaluate various IC boards and hardware components, integrating them into complex simulation architectures, including engagement-level simulations, theater-level simulations, and hardware-in-the-loop architectures
  • Assist with models, algorithms and associated simulation software and will perform trade-space analysis to assess and verify system characteristics and capabilities.
  • Document all software and hardware characteristics and changes to existing and new simulation environments; test architecture design and test planning; experimental design and test execution; data collection and analysis; and report generation.

Experience with at least one programming/software development language (C, C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink).

  • A basic understanding of aerospace system functions and dynamics, and how to model them, such as detailed sub-system models and flight dynamics models.
  • Demonstrate abilities to solve difficult hardware and software integration challenges.
  • Be a motivated self-starter who can work both independently and in a collaborative team environment, often with minimal guidance and within rigid timelines.
  • Interact with data suppliers, work well with coworkers and interface with customers, all at disparate locations.
  • Possess skills in communicating complex technical issues and in providing comprehensive written, oral and/or digital products (including document organization and technical writing).
  • Possess good analytic skills and the ability to apply these skills in a multi-tasking environment where more than one project may require his/her participation at a given time (typically one primary project and one or two ancillary projects).
  • Possess familiarity with contractor and government roles in applying intelligence analysis to aerospace system development and acquisition.
  • The candidate must be in or willing to relocate to the Dayton, Ohio area.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5)+ years of relevant experience
  • Previous experience performing Hardware Reverse Engineering on various electronic systems while using lab equipment, electronic micro-soldering, AutoCAD, Altium Designer, and SolidWorks.
  • Be familiar with the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of Hardware in the Loop (HITL) design and other test/evaluation demands from the customer to meet mission needs.
  • Be able to author spot reports, technical reports, final reports, and editing of security classification guides using MS Office, Tortoise SVN, image capture hardware, and image processing software.
  • Proficient in researching system, equipment specifications, and Interface Control Documents (ICD) to ensure compatibility and smooth integration between data and signals in a system.
  • Expertise with analog and digital systems to design and implement methods for instrumentation and power-on testing of systems, subsystems, and stand-alone components.
  • Expertise in advanced circuit board design and fabrication including multi-layer PCB’s using microwave materials, embedded components and blind/buried vias.
  • Electrical design of power supply sub-systems, test equipment design, assembly and repair and electronic component and system-level integration and troubleshooting.
  • Possess familiarity with the Department of Defense (DoD) and the United States Intelligence Community (IC).
  • Possess a good understanding of system component integration with elements such as sensors, GNC, and propulsion, to varying levels of detail will be expected.

Education Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in an engineering or physics discipline. (Required)
  • Master’s degree in an engineering or physics discipline. (Desired)

Clearance Requirements:

  • Current Secret
  • TS with SCI eligibility is desired
