Accounting Director - Exploration and Production

CAMS seeks an experienced E&P Accounting Director to lead accounting operations for upstream oil and gas activities. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional with at least 12 years of upstream E&P accounting experience and a strong grasp of industry-specific principles. Controller or assistant controller experience is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance and reconciliation of books for client-owned entities, ensuring accuracy of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Manage revenue processing and joint interest billings (JIBs) for operated and non-operated properties.
  • Lead year-end audits, including preparation of audit reports, DD&A calculations, ARO, and impairment assessments.
  • Maintain master files for assigned projects.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports to clients, banks, and investors.
  • Drive the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and infrastructure for new projects and the E&P accounting department.
  • Supervise month-end close processes, including accruals, estimates, and other closing entries.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum 12 years of upstream oil and gas accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in oil and gas accounting, reporting, and processing principles.
  • Experience with oil and gas accounting software, preferably Excalibur, is a plus.
  • Strong financial accounting expertise.
