DuPont Kalrez® delivers a broad range of technology-based products and solutions to the transportation, aerospace, electronics, healthcare, industrial and consumer markets. The Tralee Park and the Tralee Park Annex sites in Newark, DE, are the premier manufacturing locations for Kalrez® Parts servicing those industries.

We have an opening for a Sr. Manufacturing Technology Engineer/Scientist. This position provides day-to-day manufacturing support with operational and technological responsibilities to assure safe and continuous run-ability of the processes, while developing strategies/systems to improve manufacturing performance in the areas of process safety, quality, productivity, capacity, etc. The position will be supporting site initiatives, capital projects, and continuous improvement efforts in coordination with the EHS, Engineering and Technology organizations. Digitization, automation transformation and sustainability will also be a key aspect of the role. This position will primarily support the compounding and post-cure process areas. The compounding process area utilizes internal mixers and roll mills to produce Kalrez® compounds that are tailored to serve the needs of various customer applications. The post-cure area is responsible for safe and accurate curing of Kalrez® products.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct work activities and demonstrate leadership behavior consistent with DuPont Core Values
  • Use process expertise to ensure facility and personal adherence to regulatory, and company policies.
  • Provide daily technical support to Operations (occasional off-shift/weekends when needed) including process optimization, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and risk analysis.
  • Monitor and assess process area performance and identify improvement opportunities. Develop and implement solutions to improve processes (safety, yield, reliability, uptime, and capacity release)
  • Provide technical leadership to plant capital projects, including design, capital justification, basic data, PSM, and commissioning activities.
  • Work closely with the production and maintenance teams to develop production strategies and systems that improve manufacturing performance.
  • Mentoring and influential leadership of production resources
  • Mentor and develop early career engineers.
  • Work with Commercial and Quality teams to respond to customer inquiries and/or quality notifications.
  • Interface with Technology and Business resources to develop innovations and coordinate product rollouts to the facility.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve operating procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Rubber Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or related industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of critical systems including PSM, PHA, SAP, Six Sigma and TEEP/OEE
  • A rubber or plastics manufacturing background, including experience in elastomer mixing, milling, extrusion and molding unit operations, is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong team player with an ability to work closely with all functional teams within the plant.
  • Self-starter with systematic decision making, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement certification and statistical analysis experience
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex process and production issues using multiple disciplined teams and data driven analysis.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/tasks, adapt to changing conditions and balance a “big picture” focus with detailed execution.
