SUMMARY

We are looking for a dedicated Patient Care Tech to join our team. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Technician participates in the delivery of care to patients in the Medical/Surgical Telemetry, and Critical Care Unit. The Patient Care Technician promotes good public relations and professional attitude when dealing with co-workers, patients, visitors, and physicians. The Patient Care Technician also provides patient care and performs job functions and responsibilities in compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and job description.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides courteous service to our patients, visitors, staff, physicians, and other internal/external customers.
  • Accepts or responds to change in a manner that promotes and supports departmental/hospital goals and objectives.
  • Responds to the needs of the department by accepting additional assignments and or assisting others to ensure the continuity of services.
  • Maintains the desk as needed which includes order entry, charges, ordering supplies, and telephone etiquette
  • Transport patients, lab specimens and other as assigned.
  • Follows established emergency, infection control and or universal precautions procedure as required.
  • Promptly responds to the needs of the patients.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage patients of all ages or patients with special need.

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • CNA, EMT-B, EMT-P or PCT Certification required
  • 6 months or more experience in Medical, Surgical, Telemetry, and Critical Care related fields
  • Current CPR certification
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk as well as occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Using proper body mechanics, the employee may be expected to lift, pull, push or move patients and/or equipment. Fine motor skills are required when using hands and fingers to handle, feel or reach. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and ability to speak are necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, sharp eye focus and ability to distinguish colors. There will be periods of stressful intense concentration with more than average pressure used in a variety of problem-solving situations.
