SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated Monitor Tech to join our Med/Surg Department. This involves technical duties which will facilitate the patient care operations including routine management of the telemetry room functions and documentation, interpretation of rhythm trips, ensure proper management and maintenance of telemetry equipment, and ensure quality patient care through diligent maintenance of continuous telemetry as required by physician order or patient need, and prompt staff notification of dysrhythmia.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Customer Service: Provides and gives cooperative and courteous service to patients, visitors, staff, physicians, volunteers and other internal/external customers. Ensures that all communications and job activities result in a positive customer experience.
  • Ensures that patients are maintained on continuous telemetry. Calls staff as needed to troubleshoot problems quickly.
  • Maintains constant observation of all monitors for any rhythm changes and responds as appropriate.
  • Differentiates between artifact and actual amhymias and proceeds as necessary.
  • Alerts RN of any change in patient rhythm.
  • Pages RN stat to room for lethal arrhythmias. Follows up to ensure that staff has arrived in patient room for emergency situations.
  • Records daily strips and for all new patients and rhythm changes.
  • Admits and discharges patients on monitors appropriately.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • The candidate must have a CCT (Certified Cardio graphic Technician) certification or
    1. EMT-P or equivalent or
    2. ECG Tech Certification or certificate in Cardiovascular Technician
  • Primary Source Verification: Includes NCCT and IDFPR
  • Successfully completed Basic Dysrhythmia Course

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk as well as occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Using proper body mechanics, the employee may be expected to lift, pull, push or move patients and/or equipment. Fine motor skills are required when using hands and fingers to handle, feel or reach. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and ability to speak are necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, sharp eye focus and ability to distinguish colors. There will be periods of stressful intense concentration with more than average pressure used in a variety of problem-solving situations.
