The Role

As a Senior IT DevOps Systems Engineer at Medallia, you will collaborate with internal or external vendor teams that will create seamless infrastructure experiences across our IT systems. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior IT DevOps Systems Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in shaping and executing the vision and roadmap of our IT and platform engineering initiatives. Beyond traditional DevOps responsibilities, this role requires a strong understanding of .NET Framework, .NET Core, Node.js, JavaScript, SQL/MySQL, and MVC architectures, ensuring a holistic approach to supporting modern application environments.

The Senior IT DevOps Systems Engineer will work closely with engineering, security, and infrastructure teams, architecting, designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure solutions across Azure, VMware, Active Directory, SSO, storage, compute, and network environments.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key contributor in developing the overall vision, strategy, and technical roadmap for IT operations and platform services.
  • Architect, implement, and maintain infrastructure and application pipelines, with a specific focus on supporting environments built with .NET Framework/.NET Core, Node.js, JavaScript, SQL/MySQL, and MVC web application frameworks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineering, product development, and information security to align on goals, technical priorities, and execution plans.
  • Translate complex business and technical requirements into efficient infrastructure, platform automation, and application deployment strategies.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain systems for CI/CD pipelines supporting full stack application deployments (.NET, Node.js, JavaScript).
  • Contribute to the monitoring, performance tuning, and optimization of application and infrastructure components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application and systems issues, with in-depth analysis across application layers, databases (SQL/MySQL), and infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality support documentation, technical runbooks, and knowledge bases for internal use.
  • Advocate for and implement DevOps best practices, bringing a continuous improvement and automation-first mindset.
  • Mentor junior team members, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
  • Present technical proposals, architectural reviews, and status updates confidently to both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Work onsite at our office as needed to collaborate and drive initiatives forward; flexible work arrangements available otherwise.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Solid understanding and experience supporting applications developed in .NET Framework, .NET Core, Node.js, JavaScript, SQL/MySQL, and MVC patterns.
  • Proficiency in designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar).
  • Expertise in managing Active Directory, SSO integrations (SAML, OAuth2, OpenID Connect), and VMware virtualization.
  • Solid understanding and experience supporting applications developed in .NET Framework, .NET Core, Node.js, JavaScript, SQL/MySQL, and MVC patterns.
  • Proficiency in designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar).
  • Expertise in managing Active Directory, SSO integrations (SAML, OAuth2, OpenID Connect), and VMware virtualization.
  • Ability to work from the office as needed and travel to various global offices for various projects as needed
  • English proficiency, both written and oral

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an end-to-end project and support related role for an entire enterprise ecosystem
  • Scripting and/or automation (Python, JavaScript, Ruby, Bash, Salt, Ansible, Chef, Puppet or similar)
  • Experience managing within an ITIL based service delivery model
  • Proficiency working within a fast-paced, flat, agile, and distributed environment
  • Experience with microservices architecture and serverless computing models.
  • Familiarity with managing APIs and back-end services built with .NET Web API and Express.js.
  • Knowledge of application security best practices (OWASP Top Ten, secure coding practices).
  • Experience automating database deployments and migrations (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Certifications in Azure, Kubernetes, or relevant DevOps technologies.
