POSITION DUTIES
\r\n\r\nThe Education Employment Specialist (EES) is responsible for Collecting data for all participants in the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) grant funded programs.� The EES will have direct contact with participants to develop Employment and Education Plans; identify resources and address individual needs for successful program completion pre and/or post release.��\r\n\r\n\r\nEssential job functions and other assigned duties include:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Student Engagement and continuum of services.��\r\n Direct contact with participants to develop Employment and Education Plans;\r\n Identify resources that address individual needs, such as personal strengths, conflict resolution, self-esteem enhancements, life skills, daily decision-making, and other prison to community life stability and developmental skills;��\r\n Meets with appropriate institution staff, collateral agencies, and CBOs advocating for participant resources and services and disseminating information;��\r\n Provide post-release follow-up and wrap-around services to include community resources information, including housing, employment, education, transportation, recreation, health, religious/spiritual and other resources;\r\n Complies statistical data by keeping detailed records relating to Higher Education and Occupational training programs as a reporting requirement for the BJA Grant and DPSCS Education and Employment project;\r\n Data Collection should include, but is not limited to the following:� number of individuals referred to receive education and employment services; number of educational/training events provided; number of individuals referred to the Labor Reentry Navigator;\r\n Track participant contact hours;\r\n Maintain an agency/CBO contact log;\r\n Work with DPSCS administrative staff to complete Monly, Quarterly and Annual reports;\r\n Works with administrative staff to plan, establish, and modify the programs and services offered by the EES to meet the requirements of the assigned grant;\r\n Assists in the creation of marketing tools, implementation of policies and procedures, and modification of services provided;\r\n Ensure program and grant compliance.��\r\n Identify and monitor potential at-risk participants;\r\n Evaluate the effectiveness of program plans and modify appropriately to ensure success.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:�� A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.\r\nExperience: One year of experience in assessing inmates' security risk and inmates' program needs for the purpose of determining correct security classifications and developing program plans. \r\nNotes: \r\n1. The above educational requirement is set by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission in accordance with Title 12, Subtitle 10 of the Code of Maryland Regulations. \r\n2. Candidates may substitute one year of experience as a Correctional Officer for one year of the required experience. \r\n3. Candidates may substitute one year of experience as a Correctional Dietary Officer, Correctional Maintenance Officer or Correctional Supply Officer for one year of the required experience.\r\n4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in correctional classifications or correctional specialty codes in the criminal justice field of work at the rate of two years of military experience for one year of the required experience.\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\r\n Experience\r\n collecting/managing statistical or educational data.\r\n Experience in student/community engagement to\r\n establish life stability by advocating for participant resources or providing\r\n post-release services.��\r\n Direct\r\n or indirect experience in program development.\r\n\r\n
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. \r\n
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees who have not already done so must meet the required selection standards and successfully complete the training prescribed by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission for a Correctional Classification Counselor. Selection standards for correctional training are listed in detail in the Code of Maryland Regulations 12.10.01.04 and include the following: \r\nU.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status \r\nMust be at least 21years of age \r\nA completed background investigation \r\nOral interview \r\nPhysical examination. \r\n2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs. \r\n

BENEFITS
\r\nContractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\r\nLeave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\r\n\r\n
