Job Summary:

Formulates/defines project and system scope and objectives through research and fact finding to develop or modify moderately complex health information systems. Prepares detailed specifications from which workflows will be built. Designs, builds, tests, documents, and maintains applicable applications.

Education & Experience

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Information Technology or related field and two (2) years of information technology or healthcare clinical experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: Epic certification or accreditation. If not Epic certified or accredited, must obtain Epic certification accreditation within 6 months of hire. An Epic assessment will be given to those candidates who pass the initial review step of the interview process.

Preferred Qualifications:

Information systems and/or clinical experience in healthcare preferred. RHIA, CAHIMSS, CPHIMSS and/or other clinical certifications preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of clinical software applications. Knowledge of operational workflow processes. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Analytical and problem resolution skills. Interpersonal and customer service skills. Verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Ability to develop and/or implement policies, procedures, and processes. Ability to prepare reports and maintain records and documentation. Ability to obtain EPIC certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, tests, troubleshoots, documents, releases, implements, and supports any application supported by the department of information systems.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and training to other staff. Displays creative thinking and resolves problems.
  • Works with is staff, vendors, and users to find the best technological means to meet business needs. Keeps abreast of current and new technologies as well as changes in operational areas of focus and serves as a resource to other staff.
  • Develops specifications and conducts research with the assistance of is staff, vendors, and users to design, create workflows, or enhance applications. Prepares the required documents in accordance with the Department of Information systems standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in project teams, special projects, and other tasks as assigned by director or designated team leader. Accomplishes goals and objectives within set deadlines.
  • Provides positive customer relations across the range of information systems activities including support services, UMMC business units, and vendors. Promotes corporate integrity through compliance with the UMMC corporate compliance program.
