The Environmental Services Assistant promotes positive patient outcomes by ensuring a sterile environment for patients and staff to help prevent the spread of disease and infection.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs assigned tasks according to policies and procedures related to the organization’s environment.
  • Uses appropriate solutions, chemicals, materials, and equipment in assigned areas.
  • Demonstrates consideration for the safety of self and others in performing assigned tasks and disposing of waste products properly.

Environmental Services Assistant Trainer Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Interfaces with department leaders to ensure successful organizational and departmental orientation.
  • Trains and oversees training of new hires to ensure a consistent onboarding process.
  • Maintains training materials.
  • Performs observations of employees to ensure training programs and other procedures are being followed, including proper use of chemicals.
  • Tracks and ensures all employees' annual competencies are up to date.
  • Educates employees on updates to policies and procedures related to duties.

Education:

High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

Experience in a health care facility environmental services preferred.

None
