The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra – You dream it. We build it. Join our team as a Senior Engineer - Vibration & Sound Quality.

Job Summary

The Vibration and Sound Quality Senior Engineer will deliver world-class vehicle sound and vibration quality while supporting Harley-Davidson’s product methodology requirements using virtual modeling, laboratory, and on-track/road testing. This role will work in the Rider Experience team within Vehicle Engineering and support new and current product teams, focusing on maintaining a premium customer experience through the product design.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create and execute overall vibration and sound quality strategies at the vehicle level
  • Develop vibration and sound quality predictive methods and strategies that accelerate time to market
  • Cascade customer and project inputs into a measurable vehicle level requirements that drive system design
  • Plan and support laboratory and on track NVH testing for new product development to verify vehicle level requirements
  • Analyze and process NVH data from testing to verify requirements
  • Describe tradeoffs among conflicting requirements using product methodology tools or equivalent
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking for creating informed vehicle requirements
  • Own the maintenance and evolution of vibration and sound quality standards, test methods, guidelines, and processes

Education Requirements

  • This position requires a requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field. Advanced degree preferred in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Noise, Vibration, and Harshness.

Experience Requirements

This position typically requires a minimum of six years of related experience. Motorcycle rider or desire to learn is required. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated the following:

  • Experience with analyzing and post-processing large amounts of data
  • Experience with statistical analysis
  • A strong comprehension of digital signal processing and frequency analysis
  • Familiarity with data acquisition and NVH-related sensors and tools
  • Comfortable advocating for vibration and sound quality insights in a clear, concise manner and providing data/rationale for recommendation
  • Experience with vibration modal analysis using test and simulation tools
  • Experience with acoustics testing and analysis
  • Understands basic project management tools and principles (in topics such as requirements, scheduling, risk and issues, budget, and metrics). Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
